No, I mean the true counter strike players play 1.6. You said it yourself, Source is more welcoming, that's because it's easier, and it lacks in the areas of stratagey, teamwork, and self worth (all of this is imo.) Source is a game, to me, that is based on graphics, rather than actual gameplay.
Now for you guys, you'd disagree because like I said, the majority of CS players here are Source dedicated. There will always be a discussion of what game is better than the other, and it all boils down to personal opinion, ultimately concluding nothing except for disagreements and arguements. I guess forget I said anything about a Mod pack for 1.6, I wouldn't waste my time on making one for either game, and I guess the person(s) that are willing to spend that time are fully in command when it comes to which game they wish to 'enhance' for others.-Edit.To futher explain the 'gameplay lacking' thing. What I meant was, newer people play source, easily enough defined as a 'noob' game, to some extent ( I acknowledge that there are very good source players, and I have friends that play source that I would not call them 'noobs').
To rationalize, I'd say there is a greater amount of GOOD players on 1.6, whereas with source, the majority is newer players. Gameplay for me is going to be different for me than it will be for you. I like competitive scenarios, where I don't feel like I could roll everyone on the opposing team every round.
For you, you may like that. I'm sure that's not always the case, and I really don't want to sound like I am only picking out the extremes of the two games, I'm just trying to clarify. Edited October 13, 2006 by ian is FTW. The CS 1.6 vs CSS arguments here are rediculous. The population of people who play Source now is much larger than the population of people that play 1.6.
According to Xfire is about 4:1 atm. So of course there are going to be more noobs in the game with more people.
As well YES it is a newer game that people have decided to ADAPT to, just because a 1.6 player doesn't want to adapt to source doesn't make him pro, it just makes him stubborn. Either that or he doesn't have a good enough pc, or doesn't want to pay another $20 or whatever it is for the same game with prettier graphics (for that I don't blame them). But to say the game mechanics are completely changed is rediculous and assanine. Some of the early hitbox and network code issues have long been resolved for the source engine and aside from the differening recoils between to the two games, it's practically the same game.Essentially most people who argue 1.6 Source are simply stubborn and don't want to change their gameplay style for a game they've become extremely accustomed to. Since most of the 'skill' in counter strike comes from thorougly remembering the maps anyways.EDIT: FURTHERMORE, everytime a new version of Counter Strike came out, there were always complainers and resistors. Hey man, 1.5 is way better than 1.6, come join my 1.5 server. Hey man 1.4 totally kills 1.5, do you have 1.4 loaded up?
HOW REDICULOUS DOES THAT SOUND!?!?! Ya I thought so. These were the same people that considered themselves 'pro' back in the day, If not being able to adapt to changes makes you pro, then I guess GG. Edited October 13, 2006 by Erich. Here will always be a discussion of what game is better than the other, and it all boils down to personal opinion, thats true and makes what you said about the true gamers going onto 1.6 completly irrelevant. Also how is source 'easier'. If its easier for you its easier for the opposition, everyones on the same playing field still so its no easier at all.
You personally may play better at source, but if everyone was finding it so easy noone would be dieing.ohh and they arent the same game, they do play different on the contrary to what someone else said. Is like your own customized CS;Source update? If so wheres screenshots and where can i download this.ThanksBtw, I played CS 1.6 and its the most crappest game i have ever seen.CS;Source is ownage.CS 1.6 is worser than playing Norts and CrossesYou can download your own skins and models right now if you want, you don't have to wait for anyone to release a pack if you don't want to.Btw, if you didn't know - CS 1.6 and CSS are the same game. CSS is exactly based off 1.6, just with physics and obviously better graphics. Only very recently has Valve started to change CSS up a bit, ie.
New weapon pricing and such. For all intents and purposes, they are the same game. Pretty much the same engine also, if you want to get technical about it.
